Road Age

2021 08 08

Hampshire County Council confesses that, without Government help, the county's road network will deteriorate further in coming years. The Council admits that there are already serious delays in carrying out road repairs.

The good news is:

Department for Transport (DfT) has allocated £500 million to local authorities in

England for highways maintenance

  • funding will go toward ensuring potholes and other road maintenance issues across the country are fixed

  • the equivalent of 10 million potholes could be filled in as a result of these allocations.

If we include HMB (Highways Maintenance Block) needs, HMB Incentive and Integrated Transport Block (ITB), Hampshire could receive up to £38,830,000
