After six days, Gerry, the golden eagle, an escapee from Liberty's Owl, Raptor and Reptile Centre in Ringwood, was retrieved and brought safely home. When found, he was resting on a house near Hightown Lake. Gerry had departed during a public display. The search for the bird was complicated because Gerry had somehow slipped off his tracking device.
Gerry's adventure attracted widespread media attention. Sources providing coverage included the BBC and most local and not so local newspapers and websites (e.g. Antarctica News).
The Liberty's Owl, Raptor and Reptile Centre is at Crow Lane, Ringwood BH24 3EA
